MLA South East works to promote and support the achievement of professional, service and other standards throughout the region. It also promotes excellence in the preservation, management and use of the region's cultural and natural resources.

The South East Stewardship Strategy and accompanying action plan 2005-2008 is founded on initial research into Documentation backlogs and a survey of the region's collection management and provision and needs.
