Hampshire County Council
Hampshire County Council is hosting a competition to award a local poet with the honorary title of 'Hampshire Poet for the National Year of Reading'.
The winning Poet will receive four paid commissions to commemorate local projects and activities in 2008. As well as being a talented poet the winner will be a confident speaker and advocate for the pleasures of reading. It's an exciting opportunity to be part of the cultural life of the county.
- The competition is open to those living, working or studying in Hampshire County Council governed areas, aged 18+.
- Entrants must send two poems from their portfolio plus a short personal statement of what they can bring to and gain from the experience.
- If successful they must be prepared to attend a public event at the Winchester Discovery Centre on the evening of Monday 31 March where shortlisted poets will read their work and our judges will announce a winner.
The closing date is Thursday 6 March 2008. For further details, to download the entry form or to enter online, visit: www3.hants.gov.uk/library/year-of-reading.
