Following the success of Archive Awareness Month in September 2003, the Archive Awareness Campaign (AAC)

is now an ongoing campaign, supported by The National Council on Archives, The Museums, Libraries and Archives Council (MLA) and The National Archives.
Through a series of events throughout the year it aims to celebrate and uncover the amazing wealth of material contained within archives to a wider audience.
The theme of the 2007 campaign is 'Freedom and Liberty' with events taking place primarily during Autumn 2007. For more information and ideas on the theme and how it can be related to this year's Bicentenary of the Parliamentary Abolition of the Trans-Atlantic British Slave Trade visit the AAC website.
Archives across the UK are in the process of planning showcases, open days, workshops and many other activities to celebrate their holdings of original documents to tell stories of freedom to another generation in the most creative and inspiring ways possible.
The Archive Awareness Campaign has also teamed up with Museums and Galleries Month for the first time this year to provide 'Archive Awareness Family History Workshops' in UK-wide museums and galleries this May.
